After reading that Massilia Ruam Rudee in Bangkok ranked 45th in the world for pizza, I knew I had to check it out. Located in the heart of Bangkok, this pizzeria’s reputation alone was enough to spark my curiosity—and it didn’t disappoint.

Atmosphere and Setting

I was lucky to arrive just before a heavy rainstorm, which added a unique charm to my visit. While the indoor seating looked cozy, I opted to sit outside as the air conditioning inside was a bit too cool for me. Despite the rain, the covered outdoor seating kept me dry, and watching the storm unfold while enjoying my meal made for a memorable experience.

The Food

Now, onto the important part—the food. Here’s what I tried:

• Octopus Carpaccio: This dish was a fantastic start to the meal. The flavors were well-balanced, and the freshness of the octopus shone through.
• Pizza with Mortadella and Burrata: The star of the evening. The dough and crust were impeccable—fluffy, crispy, and perfectly baked. The base was thin with just the right amount of tomato, while the mortadella and burrata were in perfect harmony, creating what might just be the best pizza I’ve ever eaten.
• Tiramisu: For dessert, the tiramisu was decent but didn’t quite match the excellence of the carpaccio and pizza.

Drinks

To complement my meal, I had a refreshing Pellegrino and a glass of Montepulciano. Both paired beautifully with the food and rounded out the dining experience.

Massilia Ruam Rudee lives up to its reputation as one of the best pizzerias in the world. The pizza alone is worth the visit, and the overall experience—from the unique stormy setting to the excellent food—makes it a spot I’d highly recommend to any pizza lover.
